Rape 'being used as widespread weapon of war in Syrian conflict

الاغتصاب يستخدم على نطاق واسع كسلاح حرب في الصراع السوري

The study of the nearly 600,000 people who have fled the country since the start of the civil war stated it was a "staggering humanitarian disaster". On top of those in neighbouring countries, mainly Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and Iraq, 2.5 million had fled their homes but remained in Syria, while 4 million people were in need of help.

Syrian air strike near Damascus 'kills 8 children and 5 women'

The Britain-based watchdog has confirmed the identities of eight child victims, all members of the same clan, said Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman. "The children were aged between six months and nine years old," Abdel Rahman said, adding that five women were also killed in the strike.

According to Tehran, the Iranian nationals were pilgrims on their way to the shrine of Hazrat Zainab, a popular destination in Syria for devout Shia Iranians.

BEIRUT—A Syrian government airstrike hit a house in a rebellious suburb of Damascus early Monday, killing at least 13 people, including eight children, and trapping others under the rubble, activists said.President Bashar al-Assad's forces have intensified their continuing campaign against the towns and villages around Damascus, underlining the regime's resolve to crush the rebels a week after the Syrian leader defiantly rejected any talks with the armed opposition.
