Cameron: I'll work with Obama to ensure Syria is top priority

كاميرون : سوف نعمل مع أوباما لضمان سورية كأولوية عليا


David Cameron is to tell Barack Obama that Britain and the US must place the Syrian conflict at the top of their list of priorities after he heard at first hand "appalling stories" of the suffering endured by refugees.

As the prime minister spoke out on the final day of his trip to the Gulf and the Middle East, the UN called on Britain and other developed countries to offer more financial support to Jordan. The kingdom, which is struggling with high levels of debt, is hosting 110,000 Syrian refugees.

Syria crisis: UK to open talks with opposition militants

الأزمة السورية : المملكة المتحدة تفتح المحادثات مع مؤيديين المعارضة

Britain is to break new ground in its response to the crisis in Syria by opening talks with armed opposition groups, as ministers acknowledge that militants are increasingly setting the agenda.

The foreign secretary, William Hague, will announce the move at a conference in Doha . David Cameron will give his blessing to the move, which is to be announced by William Hague at a conference in Doha , when he visits Syrian refugees at a camp in Jordan on Wednesday, on the final day of his Middle East and Gulf tour. More than 360,000 Syrian refugees are registered in neighbouring countries, 110,000 in Jordan .

Syria : bombs explode across Damascus

سوريا : القنابل تنفجر في جميع أنحاء دمشق
Bombs have exploded in three districts of the Syrian capital Damascus killing and wounding dozens.Gunmen have also shot dead the brother of the parliament speaker in the latest rebel attack on a figure associated with the ruling elite.

The opposition said at least 100 more people were killed elsewhere in the civil war

Judge killed in Syria car bombing

موت قاض في انفجار سيارة مفخخة في سوريا

A judge has been killed in a bombing in a residential district of Damascus, Syrian state media said.

The Sana news agency said a "terrorist group" planted explosives under the car of Judge Abad Nadhwah in the Barzeh district.

Turkey says Nato discussed Patriot missiles for Syria

The Prime Minister said his resolve to force Bashar al-Assad from power had been strengthened by the visit to the border region where tens of thousands of fleeing Syrians are living at the vast UN-run compound.

British humanitarian aid for the crisis would be increased by £14 million, he said, after being taken to an area of the border where up to 500 people a day are arriving.

He noticed that some of his fellow artists began to incorporate the conflict into their work, capturing the chaos and bloodshed that became routine. Shaabi, 26, tried to paint the opposite, using bright colors and abstract shapes to convey a sense of hope.
